Concordia Neighborhood, Portland, OR

Concordia is a neighborhood in Northeast Portland named after Concordia University that is in the neighborhood. Its bordering neighborhoods include Woodlawn, Vernon, and Sabin on the west, Sunderland on the north, Cully on the east, and Alameda and Beaumont-Wilshire on the south. The northern border of Concordia is NE Columbia Blvd, just above the Highway 30B along the railroad and the southern border includes NE Prescott St and NE Alberta Ct. Concordia neighborhood also has a big sized park Fernhill Park with a dog off-leash area.

Concordia is between NE 22nd Ave and NE 42nd Ave from west to east. Concordia University is located south of NE Dekum St between NE 27th Ave and NE 30th Ave. The university is a private nonprofit, Lutheran liberal arts university that has four colleges of study: the College of Education, the School of Management, the College of Health and Human Services, and the College of Theology, Arts and Sciences. The school also has a nursing program, which is popular among students.

Alberta Street in Concordia is a notable street which is where most of the Alberta Street Arts District is. On Alberta, you will see artsy and funky galleries, locally owned shops and boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops. Alberta St is also one of Portland’s most culturally diverse neighborhoods. You will see many businesses owned by African Americans and Hispanics. The overall vibe of Concordia neighborhood is fun, creative and edgy. It is a vibrant neighborhood with many homes in the neighborhood being revitalized and renovated. The neighborhood has many historical homes, especially on the east side of the neighborhood. Most homes here are smaller homes on smaller lots. Lots of businesses are popping up in this neighborhood and is experiencing an increasing real estate price with decreasing crimes. This uptrend of revitalization of Concordia neighborhood is also attracting more real estate investment in the neighborhood.
