Linnton, Portland, OregonLinnton is a NW Portland neighborhood that wraps around the east and north side of Forest Park as a thin strip.  Linnton neighborhood is part of the West Hills region in Northwest Portland and is where St. Johns Bridge connects to North Portland.  Linnton also privdes an easy access to Sauvie Island, an area known for agriculture, biking, and waterfowl hunting through Sauvie Island Bridge.  Living in Linnton provides an easy access to downtown Portland via Highway 30 and North Portland through St. Johns Bridge.  The west of Linnton is Forest Park, the largest forested park and a hiking heaven in the City of Portland.  This neighborhood extends north somewhat beyond Portland city limits into unincorporated Multnomah County.  The neighborhood has had a long and, at least in recent years, contentious history with the city of Portland, and at one time considered secession over land use and waste management issues.  Linnton’s attempt to become an independent city in 2006 once again since annexation by Portland in 1915 had failed but the neighborhood’s rebellious spirit is still found by its residents.

Linnton is a great neighborhood to live if you want to be close to Forest Park and have an easy access to downtown Portland or North Portland.  Forest Park is some of the most beautiful parks and its close location to downtown Portland made its surrounding neighborhoods much to be desired.  This neighborhood is for people who love nature, privacy and independence.

Linnton neighborhood has a population of 201 in 2.23 square mile land mass.  The median household income in Linnton is $66,596 (2013 figure).  An average single family house costs $250,385 and an average townhouse costs $317,869 (2010 figure) in Linnton. Real estate prices have gone up significantly since then so use an appropriate upward percentage to calculate today’s average housing cost.
