Mt. Tabor Park, PortlandMt. Tabor is a neighborhood in Southeast Portland with the famous volcanic cinder cone in Mt. Tabor City Park. Mt. Tabor borders Sunnyside to the west, Montavilla to the east, North Tabor to the north and South Tabor to the south. The neighborhood is located south of E Burnside St between SE 50th Ave and SE 76th Ave. The southern border is SE Division St.

Mount Tabor City Park is the neighborhood’s principal feature. It is an dormant volcanic vent and was named by Plympton Kelly, son of Oregon City pioneer resident Clinton Kelly. The name refers to Mount Tabor in Israel. The peak of Mt. Tabor is 636 feet in elevation and on top of the hill, you can see a panoramic view of Downtown Portland and beyond. Hawthorne Blvd ends at the base of Mt. Tabor Park.

Living in Mt. Tabor offers lots of great benefits. First, you have the amazing Mt. Tabor Park with reservoirs and hiking trails on whopping 196 acres. Second, you have lots of entertainment in this neighborhood. In fact, you have SE Division St, SE Hawthorne Blvd, SE Belmont St, and E Burnside St through the neighborhood (except Hawthorne blocked by the park) and restaurants and shops are only minutes away by walking. Mt. Tabor is also very close to Downtown Portland and commuting is short and easy. Its neighbor Richmond also provides a lot of entertainment and is in a walking distance.

There are a few schools in Mt. Tabor neighborhood including Warner Pacific College, Western Seminary Portland Campus and also Portland Community College SE Campus a block away from the southeastern border on SE Division St.
