Homestead is a unique neighborhood in Southwest Portland that is home to OSHU’s main campus and Portland Veteran Affairs Medical Center on top the hill in the northern portion of the neighborhood. This neighborhood is bordered by the Southwest Hills, Corbett-Terwilliger, and Healy Heights neighborhoods. Homestead also contains Marquam Nature Park with a hiking trail and SW Terwilliger Blvd. Parkway, a scenic boulevard with paved path for walking, running, and biking.
Many of the residents in Homestead work in Homestead at OSHU or at the Medical Center as shown in the chart below where 16% of commuters walk to work. One unique feature of the neighborhood is the aerial tram you can ride down the hill to the new OHSU location on the South Waterfront. The aerial tram is an iconic feature of Portland, Oregon that takes you down to the highly modern and upscale neighborhood South Waterfront also called, “Little Dubai”.
